Since 2022, CHASIN’ can state that the down used in CHASIN’s collections comes from farms that do not use live plucking or forced feeding practices. The obtained RDS certificate* and the use of down with a Down Pass label*, enables CHASIN’ to guarantee responsible down usage. For suppliers to work with CHASIN’ it is mandatory they are able to prove the origin of their down at all times.

100%  of the down we use is derived from RDS certified down suppliers and holds a Down Pass label.

RDS certifies products that contain feathers and down from certified farms. The RDS certifcate is a down certification standard that indicates that the down comes from waterfowl that have been treated in line with animal welfare. Garments with this certification contain down that is 100% RDS certified.

Requirements for the certficiation application:

 Animal welfare standards when it comes to how the waterfowl are farmed

 Down may only come from water fowl farmed for food production

Requirements applying to animal welfare:

 Force feeding is prohibited

 Beak trimming is prohibited

 Water fowl must have access to plenty of drinking water and food

 Water fowl must have space to display natural behaviour

 Live plucking of the birds is ALWAYS prohibited
