CHASIN’ strives to limit the use of synthetic fibres and we are currently working towards using only recycled synthetic fibres. Polyester has a dominant share in CHASIN’s collections when it comes to synthetic fibres, but Lycra, Nylon and Acrylic are also used. As Polyester has a dominant share, this fibre is the main focus on our responsible synthetic fibres roadmap. We are taking steps towards working with 100% recycled polyester only by 2025.

Recycled Polyester
Recycled Polyester is a material that is sourced mainly from plastic bottles. Our recycled polyester fabric is made by extracting PET (polyethylene terephthalate) from plastic bottles, X- ray plates and fishing nets. Once the PET has been extracted, it is used to make polyester.
Once the PET has been extracted, it is washed to remove any impurities. The material then enters a casting process in which small pieces are converted into a new polyester fibre. This fibre is then converted into a yarn by a conventional spinning process.
Despite the negative impact of the use of plastic bottles on the environment, recycling them helps to reduce the environmental impact of the textile industry significantly. The recycling process also helps conserve non-renewable natural resources and reduce the water and carbon footprint of the production process.
